The Aalen Town Hall - a bridge between the
Local council, administration and citizenship
Built in 1975, the town hall of Aalen has been the subject of much discussion and controversy ever since. Sometimes reviled as a building sin, the advantages and austere beauty of the Brutalism architecture of the 1970s are now being rediscovered. In the course of the forthcoming renovation of the aging town hall building, the advantages of the exposed concrete building, such as the attractive foyer and the flexible room layout, have to be reconciled with the needs of a modern, digitalised and evolved administration.
How to deal with the "old" building substance will be an important question for the new municipal council. But the city of Aalen would also like to invite the citizens to express themselves on the subject and to join in the discussion. Therefore, the city of Aalen invites to lectures with three renowned architects and subsequent discussion in the "concrete town hall".
