The Auditorium Maximum of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum forms the centre of the campus. With its shell-like form, it follows the idea of the port in the Sea of Knowledge, as which the university grounds are interpreted. 22 inclined exposed concrete pillars structure the façade under the tent-like roof construction, which is characterised by large window surfaces. Exhibitions, fairs and receptions take place in the spacious foyer. The hall inside seats 1750 visitors and is used both for lectures and for festive occasions, congresses and concerts. There is also a large organ here.
