Restaurant Buschmühle
im Westfalenpark (An der Buschmühle 100), 44139 Dortmund
Visitors to the 1959 Federal Garden Show were not only presented with a colourful world of plants in the newly designed Westfalenpark. Also the gastronomic offer should not come too badly. In addition to the rotating café in the Florianturm and the Parkcafé, the Buschmühle restaurant was built. The design of the Dortmund architects Otto-Otto-Heinz Groth, Werner Lehmann and Wolfram Schlote are characterized by a sober, straightforward design that has nothing in common with the "kidney table architecture" that was widespread at the time.
The restaurant consists of three cubic structures of steel with windows and wall elements of dark tropical wood and walls of yellow clinker. The sun terraces overlooking the lake are still popular with the guests of Westfalenpark today.
