Bochum
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) with its approximately 43,000 students and 6,000 employees has just recently been awarded the Big Beautiful Building title. At the same time, modernization is changing the campus. A contradiction?
The podium combines different points of view. For example, the user view of the RUB, that of the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetriebs (BLB) as owner, the state government and the economic development Bochum, that of the monument protection and that of science from different fields - political science, art history, urban development. Student voices also have their say. The journalist Sebastian Wellendorf will moderate the discussion:
Gabriele Willems I Managing Director of BLB NRW
Ralf Meyer I Managing Director of Economic Development Bochum
Cornelia Jöchner I Professor of Art History at the RUB
Hans Hanke I LWL Conservation of monuments, landscape and building culture in Westphalia
Sebastian Pewny, local politician, student and consultant of the RUB-AStA
Eckhard Gerber I Architect and Professor, owner of Gerber Architects
Ina Schwarz I Head of Construction and Real Estate at the RUB
Christa Reicher I Head of the Chair and Institute for Urban Development at RWTH Aachen University, former Dean of the Faculty of Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund -Co-initiator of Big Beautiful Buildings
