The Urban Arts Ruhr have prepared a bulging bag full of contemporary art for the early summer: The newly developed, cross-city exhibition format is called "Ruhr Ding" and brings together a total of 22 artistic positions in four cities in the Ruhr region. The Bochumer Trauerhalle will be transformed into a national pavilion for the underrepresented art in his home country by the Bulgarian artist Ivan Moudov. On the additionally offered Irrlichter tours, visitors can be guided through the exhibition by trained art mediators*.
From the 4th MAY - 30th JUNE the exhibition of the Urban Arts Ruhr brings different art forms from photography to long-term performances and installations to painting into the urban space of Dortmund, Bochum, Essen and Oberhausen and makes them accessible to everyone free of charge. On Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, additional "Irrlicher-Tours" are offered, during which trained art educators* invite visitors* inside the exhibition venues to discover works of art, get lost in familiar places and encounter them with a different perspective.
The Irrlichter-Tours are sponsored by the Essen-based innogy Foundation. Tickets are available online as well as at the municipal advance booking offices near the railway station and at all CTS-Eventim advance booking offices. Visitors* can choose between a walk or a bicycle tour. The latter is offered in cooperation with Revierrad, so that bicycles can be borrowed for a fair price.
The Irrlichter tours were developed in close cooperation with the Zukunftsakademie NRW (ZAK NRW), Ruhr Tourismus GmbH (RTG) and the ADFC district associations of the participating cities.
Tickets and further information on the Irrlichter tours can be found at www.urbanekuensteruhr.de.
